1. Ask yourself, is the sales price too much, or not enough? Your price should be set according to the actual condition of your RV and the pricing of similar RVs in your area.
  2. Make your sales ad more effective. Include important information the prospective buyer expects to see; size, year, make, model, mileage, and price.
  3. Determine the pros and cons of selling it yourself, or if you can consign your RV to a dealer who specializes in selling only consigned RVs.
  4. A clean RV is ready to sell. Complete an exterior and interior cleaning as well as emptying it of personal items.
  5. Be aware of buyer financing. It may be hard to find a cash buyer for anything except a lower value RV.  Encourage a buyer to seek out financing for a 7-10-year term to make payments practical.
  6. Test drive it yourself and verify it’s running condition. Go with all prospective buyers on the test drive.  Batteries should be charged, air conditioning cooling, check for leaks, ample fuel for the test drive, and propane for appliance demonstration.
  7. Be prepared to negotiate the price. Handle the negotiation in a professional manner and decide your bottom line before the buyer arrives.  Most buyers will make an offer and want to walk away feeling they got a “deal”, even if it’s just a little off the asking price.
  8. Be sure to be clear the RV is being sold “AS-IS”. Make it clear verbally and in writing on the bill of sale you have no liability or obligation to make repairs after the sale, AS-IS means AS-IS.
  9. Paperwork is your friend. Promptly transfer the RV and always sign a contract with the buyer that includes year, model, VIN, purchase price, date of sale, and AS-IS status.
  10. Could a detailed RV Inspection report with photos and fluid analysis help sell my RV? What will set apart my RV sales ad from the multitude of RVs for sale?  It could be an unbiased third-party inspection report that finds serious buyers and not just lookers, selling the RV faster and easier.  Now that’s a reason to smile.  A detailed report by an independent NRVIA certified RV Inspector shows you took the initiative in your sales approach, fixed systems in need of repair or replacement, and your sales price is comparable to other RVs for sale that don’t have an inspection report.  Prospective buyers will be attracted to your sales ad!
